What is a system of record?
A system of record (SOR) is the authoritative source for a given type of business data: the one place a company trusts for the "real" version of a contact, account, or transaction. Other tools sync to it rather than each keeping their own conflicting copy.
Most companies run several tools that each hold a slice of the truth: a CRM, a phone system, a ticketing tool, a billing ledger. When those copies drift apart, people waste time reconciling them and customers get inconsistent answers.
A system of record matters even more for AI agents. An agent that can only read data can answer questions; an agent that can also write to the system of record can actually finish the work (update an application, change a payment date, move a deal) and leave an accurate trail behind it.
Tether AI is built around a unified system of record, so the same agents and teammates work from one source of truth and the agents’ actions are written back to it.
